I hunt hogs at night with green lights on my feeders. I had a small group come in just after dark. I had my 450 Bushmaster knowing my lights battery was running low. Got on my shooting sticks and waited for a shot on what looked like the largest. With dim light I picked one and aimed for high shoulder neck area. Ended up hitting him in the face with 300 grains. He dropped and started to flop. Fired a second shot at the flopping around hog. Ended up getting him to stop (hip shot) so I walked down and did a dead check on him by poking his eye with my rifle , nothing.

I then turned to look for a possible second hog I may have hit. To my surprise the boar stood back up and looked at he. Don’t think he could move after 600 grains. He ended up needing 300 more grains to put him down. 900 grains total, crazy. I need to do better. Sure did make for a fun hunt. Hunting Deer hunting Plant Wood Tree

Yikes. Definitely endured some hurt before getting nap-time.

In my experience, without the 3rd shot, that hog still could have been alive in the morning. It may not have moved or gone very far, but still could have lived through the night.
