Hi I purchased a complete upper at a gun show. It has a Rock River upper receiver, and the barrel is Marked:

M1S
6.8MM
REM SPC
HC

I realize this is probably a Model 1 Sales Barrel, but I have no idea if it is a SAAMI II chamber or not, nor do I know the twist rate. It does have the M4 profile cut out on the barrell, and it is a 16".

Thanks

Re: Held With Barrel ID

lucky me, that's what I get for impulse buying at a gun show. And I know better! I panicked because I had a hunting trip coming up. Luckily I got another complete upper in the mean time, with a SAAMI II chamber and a 1 in 10 twist.

You need to get the SPCII reamer that is being sent around and a box of Tubbs final finish if you reload. Run the reamer in being sure not to cut anything but the throat and then fire the TFF thru it. Best to do all of this before shooting a single round thru it as it will have the best effect. Then you may be able to shoot the SSA tactical loads as they are not as hot as the old combat loads.

Re: Held With Barrel ID

Thanks for the advice Tim. I have not shot it yet. I am building it up as a Rifle for my Dad to use. It will be for hunting and plinking only. Do I need to ream it if I plan on just using the SSA hunting ammo? I would love to ream it, but not sure if I will have time before our hog hunt in april.

Thanks

You will be fine with the standard loads. I would at least run the Tubbs final finish system through it.
