I'm having mine built by Hero Gear/Guns in Winchester,TN. The owner has started making his own uppers and lowers. I told him I wanted something bigger than a 223 and he suggested a 6.8 ;). It's going to be a DMR, 20" bbl, match trigger, Hero Guns upper and lower, Harris bi-pod, purty rails, and last but not least, a Trijicon 2.5-10x56 with amber dot.

Did they get the barrel from AR Performance? The DMR chamber was designed by Harrison. Don't think you can just get a barrel with his chamber. As long as it's SPCII and have 1 in 10 or slower rifling you should be good to go.

They are actually producing it, "in-house". They've bought up blanks and will cut, rifle, and chamber to what you want. I call it a DMR because that's what they called it for "Designated Marksmen Rifle", not sure that is the same thing as DMR chambering. I plan on calling tomorrow and letting them know that I want the 10:1 with SPCII chambering. I'm still not sure though if I want 11:1 or 10:1. I figured out with the 20" bbl, an 11:1 rifling will lead to the same amount of spin as a 16" bbl with 10:1. Any thoughts?

The slower twist = less pressure. It is also the land and groove ratio. If you haven't bit the bullet I go with a 16" barrel. I'm shooting my xtremes from titan armory at 500 and 600 yards I can readily hit 10"x24" Ibeams. I wouldn't get a heavy barrel. If you want to try some out give me a shout. I'm scared they are going to lead you in the wrong direction.

I asked for a 20" bbl just for the look. I know the 6.8 basically runs out of steam at the 16" mark, but I thought the extra 4 inches would be more of my style. Plus, I went to their "release" of their receivers and shot almost the exact same rifle with an 18" bbl without setting it on anything and hit my mark almost every time. This is the type of gun that I will be taking my sweet time on my shots, no speed shooting here so I don't really care about the weight. If I fall in love with the 6.8 round though, I plan on getting a 10.5" bbl in it that I could shoot one-handed if need be.

1/11 twist at least. 1/10 will shoot well but the 1/11 will allow the extra performance on the top end due to less pressure. You can get more speed out of your bullet and load hotter and safer, if you reload. Accuracy does not suffer with the 1/11, 1/12 twist. The SPCII chamber specs are also necessary, but it sounds like you got that taken care of. SPCII is a chamber with the .100 leade.
