I was making an order of banded solids from Barnes for my 300 win mag and noticed they are now making a 110gr 6.8 cal TAC-X bullet. I know others in here have had great results with their 85gr and would like to know if anyone has tried these yet.
the 110 Tac-X is the same exact bullets as the 110 TSX but they put tac on it and charge a dollar more a box, the 110's are what ANG used on his bear and people have had good results but HTR has remarked that you really need some good speed to get them to open up all the time and the 110's cant be pushed as hard as the 85's obviously.
I use 115gr SMK for the range and 130gr Nosler BT Hunting for pigs. I had never tried the TSX......What is the preferred powder for the monolithic brass bullets?
10x is the best powder for it. If you are not going to be trying to get the most vel then a number of powder can work. 10x tends to get he most vel combined with top accuracy. The actual specs of your barrel can also have an effect on the difffernces in powders and how much better one is from another. Whatever you do load them load. They tend to shoot best at 2.30 or as clsoe as you can get wiht your mag.
