Has anyone tried the 6.8 SPC ammo from Doubletap in Utah ?
They got their start selling hot 10mm pistol ammo several years ago and now sell a lot of other calibers.

I think others have its fine and has good vel perf as would be expected. They use rem cases.

I haven't tried it. The VMax was very interesting but since they use Remington cases and claim the same ballistics as Hornady, I couldn't see the point. The possible improvment in consistency would be outweighed for me by the large primer.

What is the issue with the large primer?

It creates a weaker case head and also a larger velocity spread. It's also completely unnecessary for this powder volume.

And from a practical point of view for me, the other ammo I have is SSA or Hornady. They both use small primers so it's mismatched if I start reloading for the 6.8 SPC. I use DoubleTap for all my carry handgun ammo and have had great luck with them, but I have to leave them behind on this one.
