He is now banned I see. Well, Good.

He sent me to a "friend" email address, saying the friend had a tool for sale that would interest me.

No tool, but he got my money. I am wiser and smarter today.

Many warning flags, and I ignored all of them.

Pushing to use PayPal "friends and family".

Email address to send money not yet same as the conversation email.

Pushing hard to close the deal.

I wanted to believe, and it cost me smallish. Oh well, I live and learn.

Same guy, tried the same scam on me as well. Sent me an internet photo of the bolt he said he took a picture of. I passed after seeing that.

I must have "Sucker" written on my forehead now.

Some unknown person to me, also not a member of this forum, asks if I want to buy a headspace gauge from them.

"OK, send me a pic taken today, with your hand on it".

Silence. Crickets.
Well fellers. I made "pink mist" of his sorry ass, and tried to do so before he could do harm. Please folks, if something doesn't quite smell right, report their post with your concerns. If it's a PM, send a moderator a message with your suspicions, the username of the clown, an email he used and/or gave you to use, and if possible copy/paste his narrative. We're happy to lay an eyeball on a username, and see if there's something odd about them. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes not... and we just have to go with our gut instinct. This guy was more gut instinct from patterns.

This is also why we're pretty strict with the 50 post count rule for participation in the EE forum. Their interaction habits help us read them. For example, IF a newbie simply says "Hi and that he's from Texas." To me, that's a red flag, not that he's claiming to be from Texas, but that he's not too friendly, and isn't wanting to talk about Texas. When I'm asking someone to tell us a little about themselves and what brought them to our forum, I'm testing the waters on that person. If my inquiry gets ignored, that's another red flag.

Looks like I received another scam PM on this site. The MO is familiar and only 4 posts. They registered on the same day I told the scammer I'd pass.

Yup, gave that one the Pink Mist award too. He was one that was a red flag to me on the day he registered, and was one who ignored my inquiry.

I had a similar query in a chainsaw related forum, a PM from a fellow whose friend had a chain grinder for sale and who had heard that I was interested in buying one.
I told him thanks but it wasn't in the budget at the time...

It's not easy to avoid scammers in this day and age. Thanks for the heads up!
