I have been considering a bipod for quite some time now. Now that I have enough money, I am considering getting the Harris BRM-S with a Larue QD mount from the Larue website. After shipping the total comes out to approximately $181 + or - a dollar or two. This is about the most I am willing to pay.

Would this setup be pretty much gtg, or does anyone have a different recommendation for a pod and mount combo for around the same price? Also, is there anywhere else I should look other than Larue for a bipod?

Thanks

There are a few good bipods and the Harris is one of them. I have owned one for years. It's definitely a long term purchase.

There are less expensive rail mounts if you don't have to have the LaRue quick detach lever. If you need the lever, we all know LaRue's levers are very good.

I was thinking that it would be more convenient to have the qd lever. I want something that will be easy to put on and take off. My main intentions is to be able to have one that I can easily remove while in the deer blind, then easily put back on when I decide to get out and walk around. But I am not too sure yet, and that YHM mount looks like a pretty good attachment.

I have a harris bipod on an ARMS QD mount. I really like how quickly I can add or remove it. I dont think you can go wrong with either ARMS or Larue, but a bipod is not as crucial as an optic to have a great mount. If there was a place to get a cheaper mount, the bipod would be it.

I've got a couple different Harris bipods and the Larue QD mount, the stand alone LT130, not the integrated one. This provides for great flexibility when switching to different height bipods and/or swapping between different firearms. The integrated Harris and Larue mount gives you a slightly lower profile, but I'd much rather have the flexibilty to mix and match as needed. My bolt actions don't have a bottom rail, nor do many non-railed float tubes, and the stand alone mount will still work with most other bipods as well.

Either way, stick with the Larue QD, it's very solid and a lifetime warranty. I prefer the Harris bipods, however, there are many other good ones out there as well. A QD mount and two different height bipods will pretty much cover it all, from railed to sling stud, AR to bolt action...

If you want a reliable bipod a Harris will be there when you need it. I have friends that bought the chinese copy's and regretted it later. If you see Made in USA it is usually worth more. I have 4 of the taller models, and have been using them for over 20 years without a malfunction. I started with 2 and then when the tilting models came out I got 2 more. Cal Walsh

I use a Harrison on my 6.8 and my 300 mag. Both are used for everything from load development, to practice, and hunting. I run a MI SS handguard, and have an adaptor for the bipod. You won't retreat the bipod. Sorry cant comment on the QD adaptor, other than it looks solid.
