I making an order to finish a couple builds I have going. I have narrowed it down to these three railed handguards. What are yall's opinions. I like the Daniel Defense and the PRI. The yankee comes with the barrel nut and parts. What's all needed for the others. I don't want to overlook anything when placing my order.

PRI Gen III 4-rail mid length

I can't speak for the others but I have a PRI Rifle length on my SAM-R and I really like it. I don't actually have anything to compare it to but it feels good when handling it. I do need to find an adaptor to put a bipod or sling on it. Mine came in black but if I was to order one I think I would get the Natural as I like the way it looks.

I would go with the DD Lite Rail, not the Omega Rail. The Omega rail is nice if you have a standard handguard and you just want to install an FF Rail without taking everything apart.

The YHM you show there is pretty good for the price. I got mine on my new upper and really like it. It is light and cheaper than the others. I saw the Omega for the first time in person the other day and I really didn't like it too much. It seemed too square to me, but that is just personal preferences. Another option I would look in to is the Troy TRX Standard or Extreme rail. I ordered one the other day and it should be here shortly.

I have that YHM lightweight and like it, but it will get some covers of some type. Lot of sharp edges. I have a DD Omega
carbine length on my pistol and love it. DD omega comes with the set screws. You don't need anything else and it has a nice finish. Real easy to install

I haven't used the YMH but have used both the DD Omega and the PRI. I replaced the PRI with a Larue rail and don't miss the PRI a bit. If you are removing the front sight anyway there is no point in getting the Omega as it is designed to mount in place of the stock handguards using the factory barrel nut and delta ring. If you want a quad rail you would be better served with the Larue or Daniel Defense Lite rails.

In case any other future readers are interested in more feed back, I have the YHM light weight carbine rail on one 5.56 and the DD Omega on another. The YHM is light, but it has a much larger diameter than I would like. The DD Omega is much thinner, and I prefer it's grip, but I agree if you are not just replacing existing hand guards, go with the DD Lite Rail as mentioned above.

Sold my 5.56 with the YHM several years ago. I still have one with the DD Omega since it is a carbine with a front sight post. If I didn't have the front sight post, I would go with the DD Lite Rail of the choices in this thread although I'd probably also look at the new light weight rails that BCM sells made out of their aluminum alloy. Seem to be crazy light and I'd get a new BCM sticker for my safe....

My 5.56's are home defense purposed and light is the name of the game. Now that I am typing, I might off load that DD Omega and just replace it with a Magpul MOE hand guard like my Daughter's 5.56 as my wife handles the weight better.

If you are asking about my 6.8 rig, it is a Noveske 18" mid weight profile with a Superior Weapons Systems 14" quad rail that I bought directly from Art at SWS. If you would like to see a pic of the rifle it is on his web site sitting on top of an orange kayak in the gallery section.

A few years ago...whoops! I should be looking at the dates next time.

I'm trying to figure out what to buy. Thanks for the info on the DD forearm. I want something that compliments my new ARP 16". It would be nice to have something open enough to see the fluted barrel. I've got to show off H's work!
