I know there's a few of us beer drinking brat eaters on here. :D

One big step on the road to hopefully, someday, joining the rest of the country with concealed carry.

ADVISORY MEMORANDUM WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
Date: April 20, 2009
To: Wisconsin District Attorneys, Deputy DisAttorneys and Assistant District Attorneys
From: J.B. Van Hollen
Attorney General
Subject: The Interplay Between Article I, § 25 Of The Wisconsin Constitution, The Open Carry Of Firearms And Wisconsin's Disorderly Conduct Statute, Wis. Stat. § 947.01
Summary
¶1. Under Article I, § 25 of the Wisconsin Constitution, a person has the right to openly carry a firearm for any of the purposes enumerated in that Section, subject to reasonable regulation as discussed herein. The Wisconsin Department of Justice (the Department) believes that the mere open carrying of a firearm by a person, absent additional facts and circumstances, should not result in a disorderly conduct charge from a prosecutor.[/i

There's more to it (5 pages total) but just wanted to get the basic rulling across.

I wouldn't call it a big step. I read the whole thing last night and although Van Hollen did need to state his policy on this issue, it's rather ambiguous. He isn't saying anything that wasn't in any of the recent court decisions on the OC/DC issue, and he leaves a LOT open to interpretation by your local authorities. I would still expect harassment if you OC, even if you aren't charged with DC. Either way, we won't see CC until Doyle is gone and the senate has changed hands.

Where are you in WI?

I agree it's by no means perfect but I'll take ANY step in the right direction.
I'm in Grafton, about 25 mi north of Milwaukee.

Don't worry Doyles time is coming. the citizens of Wisconsin are getting tired of a budget out of control, and the infringment of our 2 Admendment. As soon as he is gone the CC will pass. and I will be one of the first to apply for a CC permit. and if you drive 40 miles farther north you will hit Fond du Lac. my home town.

I've been getting a real kick out of watching Doyle and the lefties hyper-ventilate over this in the state/local news the last 24 hours.
