Does anyone know what good lower recievers are available with full auto availability? And also, I wonder if anyone had pros or cons for a full auto eXtreme 6.8 AR15. I don't even know if it is possible to have an eXtreme upper compatible with fully suto. I'm new to the Ar platform and am ordering one for patrol as its main use and possibly some hog hunting and other things. I wonder what contructor or Tim will say to this post.

That if you have a full auto lower there are going to be lots of dead piggies  . On a serious note can you hunt with a FA lower?

Different stat3es have different laws concerning hunting with full auto guns

But to answer the question, first and foremost, if you plan on purchasing a full auto lower recever legally, there are two ways that I know of. One way is to buy a pre-ban lower receiver that is already registered as an auto lower. Then you fill out your form 3 tax stamp thing for the ATF and when approved, pick up your gun. The second way is to purchase a Registered Drop in Auto Sear, do the form 3, get approved, install in lower. Now here is the kicker, expect to pay 10,00 or more with either option you choose.

Cant afford that? Hope your department buys a full auto gun and let you keep it in your car. But I wouldnt take it hunting unless your pretty good friends with your local game warden

Uh..... I did consider myself good buddies with our local game warden but he is actually leaving this month for Clarendon. I only hunt hogs in my county. If i were to purchase the full auto lower through my S.O. how much would we have to pay. I know the next county over that have Colt's with Full and 3 round burst and all they paid was the original price for the rifles thru colt. Could I purchase the extreme upper and have the department purchase the lower? My county is broke as a joke and I have been switching between a ruger ranch rifle-mini 14(jamming P.O.S.) and a charles daily field tactical pump 12 gauge for my big bore weapon.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell everyone that our S.O. involves the Sheriff, a recently chief deputy and me, a part time deputy/ full time firefighter. So, I don't think the sheriff would have a problem with me keeping the full auto in my possession as long as I am employed with them.

Where do you work? SOunds like a few of the county Depts near me. Well I would guess the easiest way is to locate a Class 3 firearms dealer and talk to them about how for your county to purchase an Auto lower. Now just remember that you cant keep the lower once you leave the Dept. As for weather the Xtreme would work, I would say so, but you would probably need to purchase an M16 bolt carrier

I am in the Texas panhandle. Sounds like it may be more trouble than its worth. IDK, I wish our county would buy some Fully auto Ar's from colt or gtdist or someone and let use put our tactical stuff on them. that woudl work too, but they are broke, like i said earlier.

Well, go out and write three or four speeding tickets! For a department to buy an Auot lower... it might be 5 or 600 bucks. They dont have to worry about buying a preban model. Just buy new from colt anfd it wont be cheap. I know Brownells was selling the auto internals for like 300 to LE agencies

You just wish a FA lower was $10000. I found 2 HKs and a Mac 11 for a friend back in 98, $5000 all 3 of them.
he traded 1 on a $8000 ATV about 5 years ago and just sold the HK51 for $18000.
Trevor, you would be better off wishing for global war because that may happen
An Xtreme upper would work if it had a 16 carrier.

To put all of this into perspective, my dad bought a full-auto M16 lower receiver (Group Industries stainless steel) in the mid-80's for $600 + the transfer fee. These things have really gone up. He still has his and two other registered machine guns.

I heard a rumor that TACOM in Rock Island received 30000 servicable M-16's from the US Air Force. Maybe M-16's will become available through the 1033 LESO program again. M-16's have been hit or miss as far as availability in the past. Have your office submit a request for 1 or 2 to your state 1033 Coordinator, build it up in 6.8 and sweet talk the sheriff into issuing to you for patrol duties.

Feeding it will be expensive. Some LEA's in our state have put 22 LR conversion kits in their 1033 M-16 for "training". I hear its lots of fun.

When I was still at the SO, we had a sweet deal come our way. It was $2500 for an MP5. All the deputies had to do was get authorization from the Sheriff on his letterhead and have the gun shipped to a Class3 dealer (which our armory sergeant was). I didn't take the deal as I knew I was leaving but several of my buddies jumped on it and the county picked up a dozen for the HEAT team.

Trevor,
You can make that ruger Mini stop jamming if you use factory mags only. The other possibilities are that the mags you have may be worn out or damaged, or something needs cleaning or lubed or maybe the gas system is off somehow.

Frankly I just almost never hear of a Mini-14 jamming that is not related to the magazine. They are just so robust and simple they are hard to get to break if they get even a little TLC and lube. (try some automotive grease for lube. It works really well in hot places like trunks and stays put)

I have a ruger factory 20 round magazine for my mini 14 and it jams everyonce in awhile. I have a wood stock, a hogue overmolded synthetic stock and a tapco collapsible stock. I think there may be a problem with my gas block. The allens screws holding it onto the barrel are rounded out and i have no idea how to get them loose. I dont ever carry it for patrol, just for plinking. I will continue to carry my pump 12 gauge with rifled slugs until Ar15perf.com builds my 6.8 extreme. I canNOT wait for that bad boy.
