^I do not think that custom ammo shops would risk using pistol primers in rifle ammo. Quality ammo is what keeps them in business. However, with the shortage of primers on the market, I heard some shops did load 6.8mm ammo with non-magnum primers which are a few thou thinner but still work ok in 6.8mm cases if not loaded hot. Some rifles shoot the same ammo at higher pressure depending on their specific chamber. I had a 6.8 barrel with a shorter freebore pierce primers with handloads that worked just fine and without pressure signs in my other 6.8 barrels. I even had one with a rather long freebore but also a longer chamber by 0.008" that also pierced primers in loads that worked fine in 3 other 6.8 barrels.
