So I have been looking at the Ruger SFAR. Seeing all the positive reviews I finally convinced the other half to let me get one! Looking forward to a .308 in and AR -15 size and weight gun. I will report back with any changes I make. Most parts are interchangeable with an AR 15

I was looking at those the other day. Did you find anything about if the barrel can swapped.

I think eventually you can. Someone on another forum did a detailed breakdown of it. He already made a wildcat of it from a barrel blank. The main difference was the barrel extension is different. So you would need a bolt that would work with the SFAR extension.

I figure some thing would make it harder to swap. I instead bought a aero M5 upper and lower for 240 shipped this weekend. Pretty good deal. Going to build a 762x51 SBR probably be a 13.5” barrel.

Saw one yesterday for sale. 2 grand looked nearly new. It had to be near 11 lbs with a heavy 22" 6.5 Creedmoor barrel, full size rail, a bipod and a PRS 3 Stock, it did have a Giselle, but no scope or irons.

For me If I am going to pay that kind of money and pack that kind of weight I want more than a 308/6.5 CM. A 270 WSM or a 6.8 Western might make it worth it.

The SFAR seems like you could get it down to 6lbs pretty easy. That I would find interesting indeed. For $1200-1400 at that.

I thought about a Aero M5 and doing a lite weight build, but never bit the bullet. The SFAR maybe...

Yeah I have a couple parts in mind to shave a few more ounces. Probably will run an H2 buffer though. Probably will use the king comp from strike industries I use for a brake on my other 2 AR-15s as well

Been pretty happy with the Super, surprisingly it's not as loud as my other ones. Definitely less recoil and back on target faster too. At 2.5 OZ it's pretty light. I have one in CM steel that I run on a 308 too, I think it's just over 6 OZ Its the tamest 308 I have shot, I've never tried the King Comp. Probably won't, the 3rd chamber and their porting might be why it works so well. Don't know for sure, but it's worth the extra 40 to me.

If you don't plan to run suppressed, the SFAR is nearly perfect out of the box! The factory brake is lightweight enough and very effective. Try it as is and you'll see how close Ruger has come to perfection.
I intend to try it out of the box and compare it to the SI King Comp. I already have the .30 caliber version on my 6.8 so i can swap it out to compare.

I shot a SFAR 308 16" bbl back in November and came away very impressed. I shot ~ 1.25" at 100 yards with Winchester white box. The recoil was surprisingly light, and it functioned flawlessly.

I have a POF Revolution, love it, very similar. I have a friend that bought one of these, he really seems to like it.

Yeah I figured the Revolution was the inspiration for this one. Just at an affordable price for most. It was $1200. She is configured and ready for the weekend! Without going into weight optimization (lighter optic, handguard etc) its right at 8.4 lbs as configured in the photo
