I ran across this thread in ARFCOM. CMMG never announced the arrival, and their website needs to be updated. Their popular M10 midweight barrels with the upgraded 6.8 specs are apparently in stock and quietly going out the door to unsuspecting 6.8 buyers. Thought I'd post the good news here for CMMG fans.

Thanks Art. Anyone tested any of their uppers for accuracy? I was interested in them before I read half good and half sub par reviews on their equipment. I don't need to buy any of their stuff - just interested. That being said, my house 5.56 has an LPK from them pre AR15 platform craze...

Their new 6.8 1:11 SPC IIs apparently just showed up so there may not be any reviews on them. They announced these barrels around SHOT and it took this long to get them.

Previously they had SPC II and 1:10 and I don't recall any significant negatives on the forum about them.

Per their website, they use magnetic particle testing on their barrels, 4150 steel, and chrome lining so they have some good specifications for a combat/utility style production upper. They're not match grade like Ar15Performance, or Noveske, but they seem to be priced well for their features. I think the XT's and Bison barrels may be better deals, but CMMG's going to the improved specs should be a very good move for them.

CMMG has a loyal following, especially in the midwest. My brother has one of their 5.56 uppers and it has performed well so far.

My first 6.8, three years ago, was a 16" CMMG mid-weight, but SAAMI/1:10. It was very accurate, but couldn't handle any but the mildest loads (26.1gr H322 under a 115gr bullet was about all I could push if I wanted the brass to last). Shot very nice groups with SSA Blue Box 115gr OTMs (large primer), but the brass was "ringed" and unuseable after one firing - got a bag full of the stuff, use it for dummy rounds. Broke an extractor after ~400 rds. No other issues if I kept the loads light. Someday, I'll ream it to SPCII spec and install it back on an upper.

I like their lowers, used them for several builds, no issues using everything from early GI to the latest production parts.
