Has anyone done more load testing with this powder?

i finally started doing some load testing with 120gr SST and well I ended up putting a round through my chrono lol.

wanna see if anyone else has done some loads with the SSTs

I tried Moose Ears load of 30.5gr CFE BLK with Gold Dots and my first shot was 3052 fps. Barrel is ARP 18" 3R. Accuracy was 3/4" but would improve with a better rest. Need to load more and shoot for groups.

Yea I have noticed everyone using them on lighter stuff. The lowest I shoot is 110gr accubond and 120gr sst and the 130gr soft point flat base stuff.

i am at 25.5gr, 2.255, hornady brass and #41 primer. They are flatten a little so I'll back it down to 25 once I get a chronograph. I blew out primers on shot 2 and 3 out of 5 at 26gr. Which I found weird. Good thing I got it to cycle. I may just end up selling off every5hing over 110gr and just buy a crap load of hornady HPBT w/can and run those. I'll keep the accubond for hunting till I run out.

i tried it with the 110 BTHP using speer data and i was quite disappointed in velocity. H322 or A2200 gives me 2720ish fps. from a 22" X Caliber 3 grove. CFEBlack only hit 2625 if i remember right. i do know it was pretty low velocity in comparison.

If all lee fails I'll make RL10x work for my stuff lol. I have a pet load for my 110gr hunting stuff. But I bought a bunch of the 130gr stuff for plinking and the SSTs where just suppose to be for hunting before I found the accubonds.

i plan on putting my other 3boxes of SSTs up for sale here soon

LOL a year or two ago I bought a case of CFE Pistol and Varget. Plan on loading my .40 and .45 with the pistols and my .556 and Was gonna be .308 for the Varget but i'm out of the .308 field and into the 6.8 SPC

i've never gotten velocity that everyone else gets using the same load data. i have 4 6.8's, ARP, Xcal and Bison. my xcal and ARP run the same velocity, both 22" barrels both 3R. either my chrono isn't quite right, (magneto speed that everyone brags about) or i'm just unlucky. many times i'm 100 fps less depending on powder. i guess i need to 'true' it with my ballistic program and then i'd know for sure.

I'm also using the Magnetospeed crono, but I also tested that load on my old Crony F1. It was within 15 fps of my Magnetospeed.
My 16" Bison is 100 fps slower than my 18" ARP with that same load.

Hit the range about 12:15 today. I wanted to try CFE BLK with Gold Dot 115gr and Winchester primers. I also tweaked my seating depth.

I am including some case photos from my previous range visit that show swipe marks at 27.5 and 28.

Bullets seated 2.279, same ARP 18" with bipod and Magnetospeed. I failed to mention earlier that all of my CFE loads have failed to lock the bolt back as others have reported and that I have not adjusted the gas block.

I've been using S&B and S&B made Hornady brass.

Ya all made my mind up. Wasn't sure if I wanted Shooter's World or Hodgdon black. I'm going to get SWBO. I need it for a tac30 I'm putting together for my son anyway. Was really intrested in cfe BO performance. Great information in this thread. Thanks to everyone for posting.

Don't think I mentioned it before, but CFE worked great for me in my 12.5" barrel, but gave issues in the 18" barrel.

Velocities were impressive in the shorter barrel, I think it may be just a bit too fast for the longer barrels.

My last outing I opened up the gas block and the bolt did lock back every time.

I took a few minutes this morning before it got to hot and tried something that's been on my mind.
New SSA brass/#41 primers/105gr MKZ's/2.265 coal to match Ogive of one of my other bullets/20"-5R ARP
only one round each, when it cools off I work on it some more.

CFE Black @27.8gr = 2836-FPS/.0050" case bulge/slight swipe/slightly flattened primmer (new brass and a lot of shoulder/head space)

AA2200 @27.8gr = 2737-FPS/.0039" case bulge/slight swipe/ slightly less flattened primmer (new brass)

ProChrono and new battery

Some of my earlier reloading stuff with 2200 compared to you're 115 grain projectile and cfe black it looks like black is faster? .
I'm still waiting on some cooler weather here in the muggy sunshine state to work with the cfc Blk

I have had no luck with aa2200 and cfe black with my GD's. IMR4198 has been oustanding with it. Charge I think is around 27 grains but don't take my word on that as I am not at home to check.

Can you post your IMR4198 load?

Apparently not, I've watched for a while and haven't seen any posts on it. I have some loaded and will post the results.
