Yeah, I have no idea why the 41s are so much more than other primers in their class. I agree that it makes no sense.
When I started out reloading for my 556 guns my sole intent was to clone a bunch of the expensive mil loadings and the ones I was able to actually find and buy samples of to disect to examine the components of seemed to have primers that appeared closest to the 41s, the Mk262 might have a Remington but I got better results with the 41 soni I used them. Then I discovered how much more they were than others. BUT........
I found a seller on GB who sold them for $25 per 1k I couldn't believe the luck. I ended up buying from him for over 3 years until..........
The kungflu happened along and the panic started. Patrick was bought out in about 1 month. The last time I remember looking at his stock level it was something like 140,000 units so that's 140,000 1k boxes and he sold out in about 4 weeks. I couldn't believe it took people that long to find him. Fortunately for me several people canceled in him and he had several 5k cases in the warehouse. He did tell me he had raised the price from $25 to $28 though, I still bought 4 5k bricks. He gave me a little break.
I guess my point to all this is why does he sell them for $28 for 1k and most others are right around $40 and locally I've seen them for $50, which I did not buy.
