Looking for any input and advice concerning what parts to use in connection with building a stripped lower to go with teh Extreme upper. I realize that there are kits out there, but given the painstaking attention to detail and proper parts that have gone into the development and builds for the Extreme, I would like to approach a lower build with the same high level of attention to detail.

I know I can buy a lower kit and slap those parts in, but it just doesn't seem right when it's going to be matched up with an Extreme.

Thanks!

Well Ill just reply as to what I have prepared for my Xtreme upper
Lower: DPMS stripped Lower... Most lowers are pretty much the same and I plan on building a spikes lower for the Xtreme later just for looks
LPK: RRA LPK is highly recomended, although in the future I will purchase this LPK http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/co ... esult.html
Trigger: WOA tuned RRA NM 2 stage trigger
Buttstock: Magpul CTR stock with Mil-spec Tube
Buffer Spring: Superior Shooting System flatwire spring
Grip: Hogue ergo Grip

I also added a tactical sling mount for the end of the receiver plate

google is your friend... you dont have to settle on whatever you can find... just keep looking...

here is what I used...

Sun Devil Billet lower with tensioning screw= 140.00

RRA lpk=65.00

Magpul MIAD full grip kit=35.00

Wolff heavy hammer spring= 4.50

JP anti walk pins= 10.00

YHM ez-pull take down pin set= 10.00

RRA A2 bottstock assembly with receiver estension/buffer/spring= 50.00

SSS flatwire buffer spring= 20.00

things like tactical bolt catch and ambi safety selector are a matter of preference....

I chose the A2 stock and added a heavy hammer spring for use with a .50 upper....

Here is my spec sheet:

Lower: Noveske (choose your fav roll mark)
LPK: CMT (a match trigger would be nice)
Stock: A2 (for an SPR build)
Grip: Magpul MOE

I have a DPMS lower on my current rifle and I would not buy another one there are better forged lowers out there like the Mega Gator if you can find one. If you really want a nice one look at a billet unit like the SunDevil or Tactical Innovations. That is what I am using on my current bombproof build. I went with the Tactical Innovations T15 BDX and it is a super nice unit with more features than the Sun Devil and is made from 7075 rather than 6061 for added strength. But it will cost you more too, if you can even order one. I placed my order on Nov. 7th after the election and did not get it for a month. For ther lower parts kit I went with the WOA kit from ADCO had it about two days!!!! It does not include the FGC or grip but I knew I was going to use a drop in Timney unit anyways and aftermarket grip so that was fine with me. I did not pay for parts I was not going to use. I can say without a doubt that the parts are higher quality than those that came in my DPMS LPK that I installed in my current rifle. They are all bar stock material and not cast or forged like the DPMS. For the stock I will be installing the Vltor E-mod with a SSS Flat wire spring and H buffer. Biggest hurdle out there right now is locating the parts so do your homework and keep checking back with vendors. Addax has been another great place to locate parts and all three have been awesome to deal with. Not to mention two are site sponsers so it helps the site out as well.

Just my two cents if its even worht that,

I just put my lower together last night. It is a Sun Devil with RRA LPK, single stage trigger, CTR stock and MIAD grip. Now I just need my Extreme upper.

Sabre Lower
Timney trigger
Stag LPK
Going to wait to see how it balances with a couple different stocks.

I ordered a couple so I'm going to get multiple set ups.
I want to have a couple for hunting for my 2 children
Then the others are going to be my play toys.
My daughter wants her's to be pink and purple camo. So if she asks
Daddy does.
My son just wants Black on Black. That's easy enough!
I'm going to put WOA triggers in theirs.

Well, I'm waiting for the LW barrels so you could say I ordered an upgraded Extreme or a downgraded MK68 (YHM customizable floattube) ....In any case, here's what I have in store for my upper:

Lower: Tactical Innovations T15BDX Billet Lower

LPK: Stag (I've got a kit floating around my bench somewhere) w/ CMC trigger

Still debating if I'm going to build a 10 rd. limited SPR w/Magpul PRS stock & MIAD grip or build a custom gripless stock (to comply with CA laws).

Oh, the decisions......decisions.......the more time I have to mull it over, the tougher the choice seems to be

I have a Cav Arms MKII poly lower/buttstock on order as well as a couple of conventional lowers from Essential Arms. Probably going to use a White Oak tuned two stage trigger altho' I really like the Timney trigger as well. For a truck gun, I think the tuned two stage is probably more than enuf....and the cheaper alternative would be to have Bill Springfield do his magic.....would like to see a comparison of the two.

I agree and I got my WOA triggers from the same place. If you would p.m. me the # off of the stag it would be intersting to know how close your stag # are to mine . I have two lowers that are in series. P.M. me if you don't feel comfortable.

Great information and thank you! I do have a stripped lower to start with (Lauer Custom made by LMT), but that was definitely the easy part. Having only done partial builds before, I never really appreciated the time and thought that went into a project like this. And it certainly made me appreciate our Extreme "masters" efforts even more.
