While researching building a Cavalry Arms poly lower, I discovered than quite a few omit the buffer detent. I also noticed that some don't use it in conventional lowers either.

For curosity's sake, does anyone here leave it out on conventional lowers?

Note that I working on a couple of Cavalry Arms lowers so my question is more hypothetical/theoretical as I do have a couple of conventional lowers for yet undetermined projects....

I don't know why anyone would leave it out. Wouldn't the buffer and spring go sailing every time you opened the action?

Not if you are careful. If you drop the hammer, it should catch the buffer when opened. One should still be careful, however.
