Finally got my Stag Model 5 in hand! I will have to begin the break in process and then the real learning curve begins. I don't have much money for optics--even a BUIS (or ammo, for that matter... ;) ). But I will appreciate any input from the vets here as I begin upgrades and refining my shooting skills.

There was a detailed thread on how to break in the weapon and what to look for--wear points, where to heavily lube and where not to, etc. If anyone can point me in that direction, I'd appreciate it. (Yep, I did a search.)

Back in town on Sunday to begin the process.

Thanks for all the great input since I joined the site back in the winter!

Start by sitting on the couch and turning on the t.v....then grap your complete rig and hand cycle that bad boy 1000 times... just crank away on that charging handle...

I bought a cheap pair of BUIS from leapers/accushot utg ....spent about 50.00 total
Magpul mbus are faily cheap as well and will be my next purchase...

You can get a cheap scope like the leaper accushot swat for well under 100.00 and it will last a long time...definately long enough to save up for something else...
Sightmark makes some good reliable reflex and holo sights for well under 100.00 too...

lube that phuker up and hand cycel it... slip 2000 ewl works.... otis special forces dry lube works...militec works...mobil 1 works....

Thanks to both! I lubed the bolt carrier with Mobil 1 today and hand cycled it a couple hundred times. Put a few drops of Hoppe's in the lower and exercised the pins/trigger assy./selector.

Lion--My kid said he'd buy me a BUIS... Maybe I won't go cheap! ;)

Take care!
