Best Full Size 9mm

So I finally acquired my pistol permit in my Commie state and Im looking to get my first pistol and I’d like some recommendations. It won’t be a carry pistol and my hands are on the large side, so I’m looking for a full size semi auto in 9mm. I plan on trying out several at my local range before I buy, but there are so many available that I’d like to try and narrow it down.
Some of the ones that I’m considering are Sig p226 and p320, 1911 but not sure what make, Beretta 92 or the APX, and maybe a Glock 19. Can anyone shed some light on some of the ones that I mentioned, or even if there’s something else that you can suggest I’d appreciate it. I’m trying to keep my budget under $1000 at this point. Thanks.

Sounds like there isn't any point in a high capacity where you live. Take a look at a Glock 48. A Beretta 92FS might fit your hand better though and can use high capacity magazines. You would probably benefit from going to a range that lets you rent guns.

You are correct. I forgot to add that I am limited to 10 rounds, so no high capacity. And I will be renting at the range.
I second the G48. Use the factory mags in NY. If you escape you can get Shield's 15rd mags and have full-size capacity in a single stack pistol. Longtime G fan, big hands, was very surprised how nice the 48 felt in hand.

The best advice I can give you is, go to a range that rents them and test them all out.

First, decide whether you're a striker fire fan, or a hammer and firing pin fan. Next, decide whether you're a single action fan, or a double action, or a DAO fan. Next, decide whether or not a priority with you is whether or not the gun will fire when the mag is out of the gun (muzzle on target during a combat reload) since some will cease to function until the mag is seated. Then, go find out which brand you shoot well, and hits that giggle spot in you. I've had a S&W 659 (wasn't crazy about the trigger pull), a Baretta 92F (loved that gun), and currently have a Lionheart LH9C (which is what they call a Double Action Plus). I got away from the 9's years ago, but bullet technology has evolved so much since those days, the 9 isn't as sickly as it once appeared to be.

CZ P07, P09, or 75B Omega. Those are all Hammers and the P10 varieties are Striker.

Big hands? You'll be liking the P09. Don't know if they come in the low capacity version like the P07.

You'll find that CZ is pretty popular here. I have the 75 B and P09.

Here is CZ a thread...

Congratulations on your permit. It's not easy to find a quality low capacity full sized 9mm. There is the ubiquitous 1911. My pick would be CZ75/85. I believe can be found in low-cap models.

My 75B in 40 S&W has 10, 12, 14 &17 round mags. It came with 2 10s in 2002. Pretty sure it still does.

You can get a seperate 22LR (Kadet) slide for it too. Those mags are only in 10 rnd.

You didn't mention what your primary use will be....just some target shooting, home defense, personal defense, any kind of competition like IDPA?? All the ones you mentioned are great handguns but different in their on way. You should add the CZ's to your list too. And Springfield is about to bring back the vaunted Hi Power.....

My primary use will be home defense and some target, but no competition shooting for me. I read the CZ thread that was posted and I’ll definitely be taking a look at those as well.

Ergonomics wise springfield XD series or S&W M&P. Sig is pretty good as well. Just depends on what feels good to you. Most brands will do well.
I am a big M&P fan but I would wait and get the new ones that have the flat-faced trigger and not the hinged one because I think they are also going to come standard with optics cuts in case that is your thing. You also didn't mention which commie state because west coast commies have a roster so that severely limits your choices and I am not sure which/ if any current-gen guns are on it.

I stopped in a LGS today to look at a few different ones. Even though the guy that I spoke to is a big Glock guy, I’m not quite sold on a plastic gun. Somehow I just don’t see it lasting forever. But I did hold a few of them and it seems like the 17 fit my hand much better than the 19. They did have a Sig p320 legion that was just beautiful though. I didn’t have much time today but hopefully next week I’ll be able to spend some time at the range testing a few out.

Polymer guns are fine, they have been around for awhile now so the technology is there. If the glock feels ok to you I would go that route. They just have the ergonomics of a brick to me. So I went M&P for my first pistol, now I carry an XDm.

For carry? M&P Shield Plus. I like the HK VP9 for my full size pistol.

I'm a Glock fan you can't go wrong with the G17, G19, or my personal favorite the G45.
Check out a few 1911’s. My 5” Kimber is the most natural pointing pistol I own.
