I bought three Barrett mags recently and two of them will not drop free when released. The third one is perfect. I tried them in four different receivers (two Colt, two Armalite) and had the same results. Has anyone else experienced this with Barrett mags?

Nope. We have quite a few Barrett magazines--none have ever had a problem in our various Colt lowers.

All mine drop free from my Stag lower. Hell they don't just drop free, it almost feels like their being thrown out when I hit the mag release. If it is a mag issue I have no doubt Barrett will take care of it.

After trying them in 4 lowers from two very reputable manufacters I think it pretty clear that they are out of spec.

You did buy them from Palmetto didn't you? I'm sure they will take care of you if you did!

Were the mags loaded when you tried to release them? I know on my Cproducts mags, they drop free when empty, but not when loaded

They were empty.

hmmmm mine drop fine from my POF lower.... that is odd that yours tend to stick.

I recently bought 10 Barrett, 10 C Products, and 6 PRI waffle mags.

The Barrett mags are kinda all over the place. 2 of the 10 would drop free from a Colt SP1 lower, 6 would drop free from Rock River (which has my 6.8 upper installed) and Sabre lowers.

2 of the PRI mags would not drop free from my Rock River lower.

None of the C Products mags would drop free from my Colt SP1 lower, 7 would drop free from my Rock River lower.

All mags were tested empty.

I emailed PRI and they responded very quickly and replaced the 2 that did not drop free (I paid postage back to PRI). Now all of the PRI mags drop free.

I emailed Palmetto State Armory about the C Products mags (where I bought them) and didn't get a response. I figured with the frenzy, they are just too busy to deal with it.

I haven't contacted either of the places where I bought the Barrett mags. Frankly, I have 6.8 mag fatigue at this point and have other more important things to deal with.

I did buy them from Palmetto. Good people there. I spoke with them last week and was told they, or Barrett, would warranty them. I had planned to return them but now there is no need because the LMT Defender lower I have been waiting for was delivered and all the Barrett mags drop free easily.

It's really wierd that The Colts and Armalites don't work and the LMT does :?

I've heard a lot lately about LMT running their magwells' on the tight side.

One of the Barretts works perfectly in all my receivers. The mags may vary somewhat in their dimensions but I'm speculating. I've ordered more Barretts and will see how they fit.
I've heard also that LMT magwells are tight but those Barretts sure come flying out! I tried a few PRI's and they fall free from all my receivers.
