There's an older Armalite 6.8 thread on ARFCOM that's come back to life. "Armalite Sales" used "G O O G L E" searches to support their continued use of the obsolete SAAMI chamber. I linked them to the 6.8 pressure testing report and pointed out DPMS' SAAMI, 1:10. Read Armalite's posts. It's amazing that their R&D seems to come from GOOGLE.

If anyone else wanted to speak with Armalite about their 6.8, feel free to.

Added my $.02...but my impression is that Armalite is headed down the same road that DPMS followed....only to find a dead end.

I recently traded my 5.56 for an Armalite upper because I swear I read somewhere that the chamber leade is .10. The guy I got the rifle from had called Armalite and spoke with one of the techs and he told him they were using the improved chamber with a .10 leade.

Don't you just love it when someone tells you one thing, then you read something else written by an employee of the same company? I thought they were SPC II also, then I read their own posts that say SAAMI. And they're quoting a Google search, not their own files and records?

They do have a 4-groove 1:10 barrel, which should be better than a 6-groove, so if they had SPC II that wouldn't be a bad combination. A 1:11 4-groove would be better, but a 1:10 4-groove may prove satisfactory if they had the right chamber.

All of these companies that are clueless about the 68 should do us all a favor and stay out of the game, just like DPMS.

Agreed, especially when the Armalite guy posting on ARFCOM quotes their stats from a Google search over internal company records and product specifications. I wouldn't have expected that answer from Armalite.

What's funny is the Google info has a sentence that states the newer chambers and twists handle the combat loads better, yet Armalite says they went with the SAAMI chamber.

I've ran combat loads thru the Armalite upper already and there are no signs of pressure. My newly rechambered LMT showed small signs of pressure still.

I don't know what specs your lookin at but the Armalite is much more improved over a Model 1.

You know guys, sometimes just providing helpful info and simply leaving it be is the best way.

When you add trite comments and jabs about how one company will go the way of another or become like another it does nothing. Your point becomes lost in the personal insult you levied at the company, whereas if you left the jab out, your point is read and then hopefully considered. Again when you add a jab, you tend to focus the readers attention off your beneficial information and on the unnecessary comment.

I just read the last page of posts in Armalite's forum, while I do find it strange a company with a storied history as Armalite's would rely on google to determine what spec to use for a build, that said, I don't think a few of the posts did anything to help persuade them to change their specs, if anything well, its just too bad it went that way IMO.

Armalite knows what they should do to make their product safer,better preforming and thus more successfull.

The questions is: Will they do it?l

wow. I am disappointed in Armalite, probably my favorite big AR manufacturer and they are just being silly. I expected better.

IMHO Armalite puts out a nice product but their management makes them seem like they don't know which end is up sometimes.
