AR308 Build Help

I got to try my new AR308 this weekend and ran into a bit of an annoying snag. Every 3-4 rounds the bolt will not lock fully forward and allows the trigger to be pulled but the round doesn't fire. I went through 10 rounds by pushing the forward assist before each shot and two rounds I felt the BCG go forward. Brass ejects at 3 o'clock.

What should I be checking/fixing? My initial search points to a tight chamber but i don't know; my two 6.8 builds had 0 issues.

Upper parts:

Aero BCG and bolt
Aero Upper
Anderson mid-length barrel
Anderson adjustable gas block

did you check the headspace? what ammo are you shooting? is the barrel melonite coated? Did you clean the barrel and chamber before firing? Have you contacted Anderson to see what they say?

i had an Anderson adjustable block, had several actually, some i sold cheap here cause i couldn't feel the click. then i got another one, i threw that one along with the gas tube into the trash. i had a problem similar to yours with an AIM bolt in a Mega Upper, the AIM bolt had two O rings instead of just one, they were stacked on top of the other, removed one and the bolt worked fine after that. i have 2 Aero bolts and they have been problem free, also have a Fail Zero bolt and it functions well.

my symtoms were similar to yours, i looked closely and lots of brass flakes were on the face of the bolt, enough to cause light strikes and no BANG, after the extra O ring was removed the rifle worked fine.
If it closes fine every time on an empty chamber I would likely try a serious cleaning and possibly polishing the chamber with some flitz or something. If it does it on an empty chamber try cycling the bolt 3-4 dozen times to get the parts to mate up better.

Yeah, 2 o rings. Why two? Won't shoot it again for a couple weeks, I hope it works.

your bolt extractor spring had two O rings stacked on each other?

wow, just like mine did. it fixed my problem hope it works for you. someone just isn't paying attention when they build those things
Looks like the extra o-ring was the culprit. Ran a magazine at the local clubs' public sight-in without touching the forward assist.

I also got to shoot from a sled...I made ragged holes at 100 yards. Pretty sweet from a $100 Anderson barrel. A proper rest is next on my list to buy.
thumbs up! i've heard good things about the anderson barrels, only had one and traded it off tho
I learned the hard way that a solid rest is all the difference
