I picked up some 10-round mags for the upcoming deer season so that I could save on weight from using my 25 round mags. The problem is when I load the mag to capacity (10 rounds) and insert it in the gun the mag is very tight and will not lock into the lower no matter how hard I try to get it in there. But if I take out one round and just have 9 in the mag, it will lock in just fine.

I did swap the floor plates out for Magpul Ranger plates and I'm wondering if the added thickness has something to do with it. I needed to use the ranger plates because the stock plates came off way too easily.

Anyone else have this issue? Are there any other 10 round 6.8 mags I should be looking for?

Try loading with 10 rounds but insert mag with bolt locked to the rear. If your bolt will strip the first round out of the mag you are good to go. It is not unusual for the fully loaded mags to be hard to seat on a closed bolt.

Mine seat just fine with the bolt closed (10rnd cp). You might have one that just has less space than normal as mags have some play in capacity. I have a few cp 25 rounders that hld 27 and others that barely get 25 in.

Carbon, you answered your own question with the floor plate switch-a-roo.
You're right. The mags seat just fine with 10 rounds in them and the stock base plate. But with the added thickness of the Magpul floorplate they will only seat with 9 rounds in them.

That's fine with me too because the stock base plates slide off way to easily. If I can't knock down a deer with 9 shots, I doubt that 1 extra round will do any good at that point.

yeah i have a CP 10 round mag that i can barely get 8 rounds in before it starts to bulge and won't fit in the mag well...i usually use my 25 round mags which work fine...and since all i use the 10 round mag for is shooting off a bench i don't worry about it too much.
