This ammo/parts shortage stinks lately, but I'm hoping it will be over one day. What bugged me was calling all over town to find the 1 gun shop out of a dozen that is willing to receive my lower. Maybe someone with an FFL can explain this to me, but I don't get why it's not worth it to receive and transfer for folks. Paperwork? ATF? Latest anti-gun government conspiracy?

Just wondering if this is a new trend, or if it's always been this way--I'm new to buying my own lower, so please pardon my ignorance.

Not sure why they wouldn't want to make a few extra dollars. :?:

I wouldn't pass up a transfer. That would be income without having to invest money in a product. Someone else has already done the legwork. Just a little time would be it.

Exactly. I have a friend who's a FFL who'll transfer all day long. It's free money without any investment. Plus Cabela's here in FW will either order what you want for you, or will do transfers. And Cheaper Than Dirt will do transfers also. Surely our other members in FL can find a friendly FFL for you.

Post a note where you live and let's see what the other FL members come up with for you. Do a separate post if you need to.

I think some jackass gun shops get offended when you ask to transfer because you didnt buy from them. I have seen this behavior before. There are a lot of good guys that do them out of their homes for extra money. I have a guy that lives down the street from my parents that is retired and loves to receive them.

Go Here:

Enter your zip code and see if there are some near you.

Thanks,
Ryan

Yeah, seriously! It's not like I'm trying to find a better deal, just something they don't stock--and I'm willing to pay them just to fill out paperwork. (Man, if I got paid to fill out paperwork...!)

I did find a shop that's more than happy to do a transfer: for anybody in N FL, Pickett Weaponry will be getting my gun-shop dollars and I recommend them. (Anybody in Jacksonville probably has several choices.)

Thanks for co-venting!

I don't pay to have em transferred and don't have a problem getting the local pawnshop guy to do it. Then again, I've known him for a long time and finally felt so guilty about having him receive so many guns that I bought him some equipment for mounting scopes and a torque wrench.

Still, to answer your question, I can't see why someone wouldn't do it for a quick buck. I met a guy that owned a gun store and he had a sign on the wall that said, "If I don't have it and you'll buy it, I'll charge you $10 to get it for you." He was a great guy to do business with.
