Hey guys I was wondering if we could get another reloading sticky put together. We have info on powders and bullets but how about a list of dies by brand with pros and cons and a list of shell plate holders for differents presses. It would also be nice if someone had info on headspace guages as well. I am just getting into 6.8 reloading and I think this would be a nice sticky since most of the manuals don't have very accurate info regarding the 6.8 in them.

EX:

DIES: and list the pros and cons of each die set and what you need, full length vs neck sizing only etc...

RCBS
Lee
Hornady
Dillion
Forester

Shell plate holders:

Shell plate holders for Dillion presses etc.. I have heard you can use the .40sw for the 6.8 and save money as an example

What do you think good idea or bad?

No offense meant by this, but in my opinion there really don't see much value in such a sticky.

I have Redding dies, RCBS dies, and Hornday dies. They will all perform and I don't see much difference except a few $ cost difference. If you want to load match-type rounds, almost everyone uses the Redding Bushing and Comp Seating dies.

As for sizing, since 95% of people on here have a semi-auto, you would full-size. If you shoot bolt, go for the neck & body dies and give your brass extra life.

Shell plate holder -- I use the RCBS Pro 2000... bought a 6.8 plate. It works. The Hornady L-N-L has one, and it works. There may be something with the Dillon as mentioned, but I don't own one so not aware.

:D It just seems pretty straight forward. Am I missing something?

Yes the new people that want to get into reloading because of the price of ammo. So a sticky would point them in the right direction so they can make the right choices from the wealth of knowledge from our vast experience. I know there is a lot of stuff I don't use anymore because somthing else works better and I wish I could have bought that first. :)

and to add, reloading equipment is subjective to whom prefers what over what with their experiences. But to see this and to discuss what people have used with success as it relates 6.8SPC and to have it in one spot narrows it down for the new reloader and is a big plus considering all that is available in this market. I would like to know what works best for the masses and with the shape of this economy who wants to buys stuff you don't need.

This is what I am after guys. There are lots of reloaders on this site and they have a wealth of knowledge, their experiences could save the "noob" time and money. I know for example H prefers a certain die for his DMR chamber. Stuff like that I think would be helpfull. It's just a thought I had last night.
