Hey, I've been lurking for a couple weeks now. I'm currently comparing the 6.8 to the 6.5 for a new upper. I'm already leaning towards the 6.8, so I'm looking to explore it some more. It'd be my first military rifle, non standard caliber, so I'm looking to get an upper that will be worth it's weight.

Quick question - what's the cheapest per 1000 that you've seen loaded ammunition recently?

Welcome!

I would hope that the SSA FMJ/Plinking load would be the cheepest per 1K, at least that would be my guess, its not yet out but comming soon.
Ballpark price per thousand?

PS. If this is your site, good job! It's by far one of the most informative, friendly site I've ever seen. Much much better than Arfcom or others. I've never seen a more professional group of people when discussing this round.

Welcome aboard. I answered your question on your other post. SSA doesn't know how much it is going to cost for the plinking ammo yet. If you are LE contact SSA and Hornady for pricing as it is cheaper. If you contact Hornady speak with Kathy from LE and ask for the 6.8SPC TAP ammo, which there are two loads.
Was it that obvious? :D

I'm trying to get my county to see the light and make a switch to something more lethal. I've been continuously feeding Firearm and Tactics my brother's after action reports from the sandbox in an attempt to get them interested. So their big answer is, "if you're a believer, where's yours?" So I have to put my money where my mouth is. It just better be worth it.

Damn, after shooting a couple hundred free rounds of 223, it's going to be tough going to a caliber that I may need to roll or buy my own for awhile.

But damn, it's a fun caliber to shoot!
