Unfortunately, I discovered today, one of custodians who works at our office, lost his nephew in Afganistan on 07/23/09.

Kevin, a really good guy, lost his nephew Jeremy while deployed in Afganistan as a U.S. Marine. I don't have any further details at this time....other than the department email we received notifying us of the incident.

Semper Fidelis Jeremy Lasher

Rest in Peace

I haven't seen my friend to express to him any condolences because I am working midnights at this time, and I don't know if he will be in any time soon. I will relay to the family everyones well wishes and sympathies. This is the third Leatherneck from this area to be killed in action this year in Afganistan. I see it being a difficult period of time for our military and I pray for everyone in harms way.
Lance Cpl. Jeremy S. Lasher, 27, of Oneida, and Cpl. Nicholas G. Xiarhos, 21, of Yarmouth Port, Mass., died July 23 of wounds suffered while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, according to federal officials. They were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Tomorrow I'll be in taking part of LCpl Lasher's funeral detail.

There was a very large turn out...

Unfortunately the news up this way does not do a very good job covering the event. They just hit a couple of high lights and thats it.
