They had a huge write up on it in the May 08 issue of Guns & Weapons for Law Enforcement. the same one Kotonics got a line on the cover. The STG was the cover rifle. It is how that gun should have been from the get go. Funny how almost every single rifle that comes out in 5.56 now has a 6.8 model or conversion. that might be a hint.

Hmmm, there must be a market out there for the 6.8 after all....... :D

I don't see companies investing the time, resources, and money into developing a caliber if there is no market for it.

The question now is what chamber and twist are they making for it?
Now that we have a AR15 mag compatible stock for our STG-556, our 6.8SPC project is gaining speed. When we started talking about the 6.8SPC we were thinking we would produce a magazine, bolt, and barrel. Now it will just be a bolt and barrel and you can buy mags from Barret, CProducts, or PRI. It is going to happen, and I think it will happen very soon. We will be open to suggestion as to barrel length, twist rate, and chamber specs.

Welcome to the mix...

Barrel 16 inch, 1-11 twist SPC II chamber.

Neat little rifle you guys have
Welcome Dave,

don't forget the rifling type too...
-number of lands
-land/grove area ratio
-conventional, poly, R
Also, besides input on barrel twist and the like, I recommend a 40% decrease from MSRP for 68forum.com members. :)
I'm not gonna lie but...I have never liked those rifles  I can say that right, were all friends here right? I mean it's awesome they are joining the 6.8 club and all and it does great things for the round, just not a fan of that style rifle. That being said just my opinion which aint worth mutch 8)

I would love to own one, if the price were competitive with AR-15s.
SPC II and 1:11 are the minumums for current performance.

I think these will sell well. A bullpup gives you full power velocities with a 16-20 inch barrel compared to a SBR with a 7-12 inch barrel in the same sized package.

Using mags we all have currently is a "HUGE" benefit!

Plus you can quick change barrels and bolts and have both 5.56 and 6.8.
It would be real nice if they could update the rifle so it could be fired from the strong and weak side like the FS2000.

My friend just bought one and I can't wait to shoot it. I told him to wait for the AR lower one but since this was already ordered what the heck. I like to see the 6.8. Any projected release date?
Since it's been 3 months from the time of the original post, I sent an email to MSAR/Microtech regarding the 6.8 version - asking about barrel specs. To date, have received no response. I'd love to add their STG-556 to my collection, but not without 6.8 capability. Could the 6.8 MSAR be another piece of unobtainium?
I personally dont care how long they take to get it to market as long as they get the specs right the first time.
Questions about MSAR STG 6.8

Hope someone can give me some info regarding the 6.8 MSAR.I already purchased a earlier MSAR about a year ago. With the
additiion of a new bbl and bolt will I be able to convert this earlier model to the 6.8 platform?Rember now, this earlier model
takes the MSAR mags only and won't accept AR mags. Will this be a problem as far as mags go for the conversion?
Any further input on this is greatly appreciated.
Gallery of Guns is listing a MSAR #300-1-RH-20 @ $1,953.86, but nothing in stock. So, the good news is that there is now a model # for the 6.8 version.

Bad news is this is a 20" barrelled version - much rather have a 16" barrel for 6.8. Also, no chamber/twist specs listed. No info as to whether this is an E4 model either.

There is a NATO stock the Steyr AUG uses that accepts M16 pattern mags, and MSAR used this concept so they can offer a 6.8 which needs the steel AR style mags over polymer types. You used to be able to buy the NATO stock for existing AUGs, but you'd have to ask MSAR if you can switch to MSARs M16 mag compatible stock so you can use their 6.8 conversion. So I guess long answer to short answer, you'd have to call them and discuss it.
