With the current market, how easy is it to find 6.8 rounds? I have a 45ACP Beretta, and I cannot for the life of me find any target ammo yet, and I don't want to throw a large amount of money into a rifle that gets as much action as my Beretta.

Thanks

It's still hit & miss.
I walked into my local Cabela's last week and picked up a box of SSA 115 OTM. It was one box of a dozen or so on the shelf.
I walked into my local Walmart today to get some 9mm target loads. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch. Same for .40/.45. They did have .380 Winchester WB which I was surprised to see.

Now does this mean 6.8 is more available than the other stuff? No, it just was THIS time at THESE stores in MY area. Next month it could be the reverse. S***'s crazy with no rhyme or reason to it.

I've been reading here that SSA is either real close to getting or finally has some of the missing components he's been waiting forever for so hopefully he'll be cranking out some rounds soon.

We always had and have somthing in stock, for now we are totally depended on others for projectiles but hings will change. Currently we have 115 grain OTM's, 110 grain Noslers as well as Nosler110 grain on sale.

Sorry Art, didn't mean to imply you didn't have anything in stock. What I was trying to say was that hopefully real soon we'll be able to chose from your whole 6.8 "menu" instead of just picking from a few. I know I'm looking forward to getting some more of the 85 TSX.

Do we all expect to keep the price per round at 1/$1 or will it fluctuate?

Sorry, I haven't paid attention to this caliber again until recently, just wondering if we are expecting changes with the economy/demand.

Art - Once I get my rifle, you will definitely be hearing from me.

Thanks for the replies, all.

Well, as you can see you can order ammo from here. It is cheaper than Remington, 20 bucks a box for metal case and 40 some thing for SP loads and others. If I didn't have to make evil car payments...I'd have a years stock already by now from SSA.

I heard there was talk last week end about 6.8 ammo prices. 6.8 will never - ever be has cheap as 5.56.

1. The raw material for the case is 40% more expensive, it just weights more.
2. You have three more processes to make a 6.8 case than a 5.56.
3. The projectiles all weight more so they cost more.
4. There is 20% more powder in a 6.8 cartridge.
5. In loaded rounds we have to add 11% (Fed excise Taxt) to our final price. Think about it on a $18.00 box of ammo there is roughly $1.98 just in Excise tax, then if you purchase it from a store near you add local taxes. Taxes on top of Taxes.

Reloaders have an advantage, no 11% FET from the start, we have never ran out of cases over the past year and half because we make our own cases here in the States.

Nah, it is unreasonable to expect the 6.8 to be as cheap as the .225/5.56 rounds, simply due to the volume difference made between the 2.

Is there a chance they will sometime dip below a buck a round in the future?
