Glad I could be of some help.![]()
They've addressed that issue with the 516/556 series, controls are now located on the side for better compatability with NVG's/magnifiers. Probably doesn't help you out any but might be good info for someone looking to purchase for the first time.My only complaint is the placement of the controls at the rear of the scope body. This interferes with NV or 3X magnifiers if you own or hope to own one in the future.
That's a BIG + IMO.The EOTech is made in Ann Arbor, MI USA.
The 516 has side controls, C123 batteries, and is raised so you get a lower 1/3 co-witness.So is the only real differences between the 512 and 516 be the AA batteries vs c 123 batteries and rear mounted controls and side mounted?
Don't forget to use the Microsoft LIVE cashback deal on spendy optics packages and get a substantial rebate. Lately they have only been 8% back - but I got %30 back on the Aimpoint I bought from SWFA using ebay before Christmas. If you plan on buying either check ebay for your optics. You can always find a nice set up for alot cheaper than buying from Brownells or something like that. All new of course or good used stuff. I picked up a 512 EO for $250 and got my comp c aimpoint for $250 also. You cant go wrong. The other day I found Paulos new Aimpoint setup for around $1100 shipped.
SHIT...that's what I have! What's wrong with my EOTech?Stay away from the EOTEchs with the N Batteries. (511/551 series).
WOW!!!!! Love sweeden, but I did marry a cheerleader!!!But so much good comes from both places! How can that really help us decide?!?!

The versions with the N batteries have a real low battery life compared to the others.SHIT...that's what I have! What's wrong with my EOTech?
Probably the best way is to buy from known quality dealers. Are there any real easy ways to spot fakes on the bay.
Oh...that's it? I can deal with that. I accepted the battery life when I purchased it. I love the size! I think the CR123's and AA's are too big and the new single CR123 models are too small. Just my preference I suppose. On my next build I will suck it up and save for a year for the ACOG....no batteries! The versions with the N batteries have a real low battery life compared to the others.
