Can anyone let me know what kind of accuracy you have been getting out of your 16" Stag model 5 in 6.8 spc? Any pet loads for it or any factory ammo that has worked great would be appreciated if you could list those as well.

Thanks,

Bob

With or without M4 feedramps? There have been a couple posts documenting accuracy improvements after M4 ramps were added to improve feed reliability which also protects bullet tips.

I have the old 5H and went and shot a few rounds the other weekend. I dont have any scientific info but this was produced from my 5H w/o M4 feedramps and the 1/10 barrel they used to put on em. Oh, and stock DPMS lower parts kit trigger.......

My father and I are gearing up to handload so will experement with different loads.... nothing much till I get my 1/11 barrel.

My Stag5, 1 in 10" twist, SPCII chamber rifle averages around 2 MOA with the SSA ammo and reloads that I've tried so far. The exception in the Sierra PH 110 gr. with 29 gr. on H322 which easily shoots under 1 MOA. I haven't tried the 85 Barnes yet and also want to try the 110 Nosler AB, and 90 gr. TNT reloads.

I have been able to produce 1 1/2 MOA with the Hornady 110GR V-Max. I have a 5H, 1:10, SPC II, with the factory feed ramps. The lower is a DPMS with a RRA two stage trigger. I am just starting to reload this caliber, so I don't have any input at this time.

I don't think its protecting the tip from damage and that damage was what hurt accuracy although by protecting the tip it did minimize the issue and improve accuracy . There have been a number of test showing at closer ranges the tips can be mangled and still shoot quite well. But it does certainly protect the tip from slamming into the receiver face which likely sets the bullet back but even more likely knock the bullet to increase the runout from bullet to case. Both will have a significant effect on accuracy as it will be different for each round. It certainly does protect the tip as well which can have a effect as you increase the range.
