Accurate calls for a max load of 31.4gr and thats for a SPC I chamber. I am just curious why I repeatedly see 30.5gr of 2200 as the go-to for 90gr Gold Dots? I mean most of us push our powder/bullet combos beyond advertised, especially with an ARP chamber. Just seems like most would load a little higher than 30.5gr. Does anyone load their 90s hotter than 30.5gr?

30.5 is the "sweet" spot for accuracy.

I think the 30.5 2200 would give a start to load development for the 90gr. Gold Dot. Reduce for first several rounds and move up til you hit your sweet spot.

Ive done a lot of loads with 2200 and 90 grain hp's and golddots from speer in noveske, wilson combat and YHM barrels. Ive pushed those bullets past 3100 fps. What ive found is max velocity doesnt mean maximum accuracy. I settled in around 30 grains and they all function great and are very consistent in all the barrels I have. Ill do large batches so it was nice to find a load that worked in al the guns.Brass lasts longer and barrels dont burn out as fast when your not pushing them as fast as you can.

I totally get all that. Its just that when you look back at a lot of the loads the H has posted or others use regularly, MANY of them are well over published data because of the whole SAAMI mess. Back in the day using 110sph I used to find an accuracy node below max that was easy on brass and then another that was above published data that was pushing it and would use for hunting. That was both with h335 and 2200.

I am only getting 2760fps out of 30.5 gr of 2200 and 90GD out of an ARP 18". 29gr of RE7 is a little faster though, around 2850.
Unless you don't find 2200 more accurate for your barrel why are you using it instead of RE 7 ? H4198 is also great for 90 grain bullets . I found 2200 to show deminishing returns from 30 up with 2200 and 90 grains . ( Minimum velocity gain for increase in powder charge ) .

My load is 31.1gr and Im getting 2970fps from my 14.5" barrel and awesome groups, for me anyway. Brass all good so I see no need to hassel it.

I also use both R-7 and H4198 for the GDs and TNTs 29.5 and 29.0 respectively. Hope I dont have that bass ackwards. I think thats right tho.
