I thought I remind those of you who might be stocking up on the 25-rd PRI 6.8 mags to at the very least make sure they drop free from your gun(s) before you stash them.

I found out the hard way that PRI's QC seems to be slipping a bit. I bought 10 of the mags, and tried to use them in my new LMT lower. 5 of the 10 were very tight, and required a good bit of effort to remove. I measured the mags, and dimensions were all over the place.

I tested the mags in 2 Bushmaster lowers (which have been known to be tight in the past, based upon what I've seen on the boards...). Only 1 failed to drop free, but it was a real son of a gun to remove. It went back to PRI, and I just got the replacement. It was also initially somewhat tight, but after about 10 insertions/removals, seems to be good to go now.

I also tested that LMT lower with all of my 5.56 mags and 15% were not dropping free (mostly preban mags).

So I ended up putting one of the Bushmaster lowers on the 6.8, and the LMT lower on my 5.56 carbine. I had to sell the 5.56 mags that would not drop free.

If I'd only have had one lower, I'd have been really screwed, and have had to return 50% of the mags. Or even worse, if I hadn't checked them out and merely stashed them, may have not been able to exchange them later on after some ban.

This obviously applies to all mags you might stash, not just PRI mags, but certainly they've shown the highest fail rate so far of mags I've owned/tried, drop-free-wise.

Out of 12 of the 20 round mags and 12 of the 25 round mags I have had one that was too tight for my LMT lower.
It was also too tight for a Colt lower.
When I called PRI about it the owner of the company answered the phone and
he said to send it back right away and also asked me if I wanted a hat or t-shirt for my troubles.

While it is wise to check them out, you will not have any problems getting one fixed if you have problems.

While I had no trouble getting them to exchange it for another mag, here's the rub:

I had to pay for return shipping. They didn't say anything like "sorry for the trouble, here's a t-shirt" or anything. Not like the old days where they might have put in a note saying apologizing, etc. Very impersonal. No apologies, etc.

But this isn't confined to one particular company either. Customer service in general has taken a dive into the shitter, by and large.
