The idea just struck me. Why couldn't Ko-tonics/Cardinal make a barrel for
the mini-14? I am not sure how much R and R would have to go into making
the barrel, but I know I would go for a spec II, four groove, 11 or 12 twist
barrel for my mini. And as long as I am wishing, how about a higher capacity
magazine for the rifle also? Ruger has improved the accuracy of the mini and
an 18 inch barrel that would tolerate hotter loads and probably would improve
accuracy even more would definately be worth the money.

It could be done quite easily given there is already a 6.,8 in that gun you already have the specs. I have seen MIni barrels put on ARs so... BTW those barrels shot .5 moa on an AR so as you can see it the design that hurts the accuracy of the Mini not the barrel.

I had no real expectation that a new barrel would make my mini as accurate
as my ar-15. So far I am satisfied with the mini's accuracy as it is. The new
barrel would allow me to shoot hotter loads. I am starting to get some ejector
marks on some of the honady brass I am shooting in my mini. I was using hornady
hp 110 grain bullets and 28.5 grains of H322. As far as I could tell there were no
marks on the same loads used in my AR with the improved barrel. Velocity out of
both rifles averaged around 2585 and accuracy was good.

If you want to push the performance then you wil need the KT or other barrel with the proper specs. If that is what you are going for I say its definitely doable.

We know that the Mini has a 10 twist and we assume that it got the SAMMI chamber. You might try having the leede lenghtned to SPC ll or DMR specs first and see how much that it helps before deciding whether to rebarrel it or not.
