The first of the bullet info gathering threads, lets try to keep the chit chat to a minium and not argu with others opinions. Please just post the facts or your experience with the bullets. How they performed on game, the accuracy of the bullet and loading data that produced good accuracy. If you don't have any experience please let those that do have experience provide the info for others to learn from.

16" ARP Recce BBL ~ 100 yard range

Fired, re-sized, cleaned, and trimmed SSA brass:

85 E-Tip Re-7 28.9 gr CCI 41 2.295" OAL 2,941 fps (ave.) .83" group ES 51 SD 20

85 E-Tip Re-7 29.1 gr CCI 41 2.295" OAL 2,957 fps (ave.) .94" group ES 34 SD 13 (Light swipes)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New, sized SSA brass:

85 E-Tip Re-7 28.9 gr CCI 41 2.295" OAL 2,906 fps (ave.) .68" group ES 56 SD 22

85 E-Tip Re-7 29.1 gr CCI 41 2.295" OAL 2,980 fps (ave.) .71" group ES 88 SD 33 (I haven't re-shot this load to confirm, yet. The fps seems to be too high, as does the ES and SD numbers.)

Note: All ejections at 3:00 position.

It looks like the Nosler E-tip doesn't have the following that other 'lead free' bullets have. I'm going to give'em a try with a case full of R7 and see how they shoot. My ARP 'Xtream' upper likes the Barnes 85 and 95 gr. projectiles and R7 so I hope the Nosler falls in line.

I bet if we give this bullet awhile and get some good reports of some game kills, it will do alright. My deer hunting on my Arkansas lease just had a bunch of timber thinned out on my favorite stand and I went from 100 yards to about a 350 yard max shot. Thinking about trying some of these with about 29 grains of RL7 or about 31 grains of A2200 this year. Or just stick with the 120 sst. I'm about to give up on picking up some 100 grain Accubonds that I want to give a try.

The E-Tip is relatively new in any caliber, and especially the 6.8 (not to mention it lacks an X in its name like the TSX or GMX). All the characteristics such as a polymer tip and deep expansion cavity look good, but I still would like to see more results though.

Has anyone been able to accumulate anymore data on the e-tip, specifically terminal performance?

Has anybody killed a deer with this bullet yet.

Curious if anyone has taken a deer with this 85 gr E-tip yet. I like to shoot ballistic tip bullets in my AR platforms because they don't get damaged in the magazine. Would like to consider giving this a try, but I am new to the 6.8 and don't know how this will do on deer. I feel confident that the 110 gr prohunter that I bought pre loaded will get the job done. I would just like to see and hear of some deer hunting success stories with this round before I invest money in them and/or take a chance on wounding a deer with a round that may not be adequate. I have always been a 30-06 shooter so stepping down from that to a 6.8 for deer hunting I really don't have any back ground information or experience from which to form an educated opinion on what is adequate for deer in what is a lower powered cartridge.

Just shot my loads, not impressed so far.
18" ARP
28.5gr RL7 CCI450 2.295COAL
2871fps AVE 1.5" Group

29gr
2928fps AVE 3"+ Group

29.5gr
2974fps AVE 2" Group

Im going to try them at a shorter COAL. Nosler calls for a 2.225 COAL, I am going to play around at 2.26+/-.

Best load for me so far from 18" ARP barrel;

30.5gr H322 Federal brass CCI#41 primers 2.27"COAL (no crimp)

Produced consistent 3 shot groups under 1" @ 100 yds using a Leupold 2-7X scope, Aero Precision upper and lower, ALG QMS trigger with slack adjusted out. This bullet appears to need fine tuning in different rifles but can produce acceptable accuracy. These are the first lead free bullets I've used and they require extra effort to work up loads.

Just tried some loads with 2200, not overly impressed with it either. Best accuracy out of anything so far, but it SLOW.
29gr AA2200, 2.295, CCI450, 2760fps, 7/8" 3 shot group.

29.5 2785fps

30gr 2830fps

30.5gr 2880fps, 8" horizontal string, flat primers. Didn't push any harder, accuracy was out the window already.

Next up is RL10x I guess.

These copper foul worse than the Barnes bullets, which means BAD. I have to strip my bore clean every 60rd with the Barnes, the e-tips are every 35-40. Regular lead cored bullets are +200 rounds before I use the copper solvent.

Aspp, why not try RE7

This is what I achieved from an 18" PSA barrel and SSA Brass. Accuracy was 1.5 MOA for 3-shot groups. I didn't shot enough of them to judge copper fouling. They expand as good or better than the 95gr TTSX.

85gr Nosler E-Tip – 2845 fps (31.0gr AA2200)
85gr Nosler E-Tip – 2925 fps (29.5gr Reloader 7)

I have tried rl7, pushed them up to 30.5 gr and never got better than 2" groups. That is not acceptable in my hunting. I can range out to 400yds and beyond, and the kill box on a deer is only 8". Its not smart to shoot a gun at it that is only grouping 8" at an 8" target, Mr. Murphy will own you. Especially when its a live target that will likely be moving. If I can't get MOA or less I don't like to use that load.

Aspp, I think the only copper bullet that will get you to 400 yards is the 95gr TTSX.

The e tip will if you can get 3000fps out of it. But I'm getting horrid accuracy over 2800fps across the board.
