I'm really close to snagging one of these barrels and wondered if anyone has any data on speeds and gp sizes yet.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I should say I currently have a 22" BHW 243 lbc, which is the same round. Not sure how the throats and all dimensions of the chamber compare of course.

The only powder you listed I've used in mine is the 8208, my pet load is 28.6 gr behind a 87 gr vmax for 3k fps. CCI 450s. Given that I think you will be able to work up that 85 gr sierra load. Those usually shoot like lasers. Expect long barrel life, I'm somewhere between 1500 and 2k rounds and my bore looks great with the scope. I just keep thinking I should snag one of these barrels as $200 is a smoking deal if they shoot well.

Update to say I have a barrel on the way. I have high hopes based on all the reports on H's barrels, I don't think I've found any negative reports. I ordered a .136 bolt from Underground Tactical to go with it. Hopefully have everything in hand in a week or so and get to try it out.

That would work!

Tracking shows delivery Thurs. Signature required, fedex? I will have to play hooky from work if that's the case.

First update. The barrel arrived today and by coincidence so did the .136 bolt from Underground Tactical. I had to make a spot for it so I wasted no time taking apart my tired 17-223 and installing the new barrel. First I did swab out the bore which is coated with some kind of grease. Bore scope showed a pretty smooth bore with few reamer marks.

The bolt is another story. It's oversized on the wear ring, .004" over what my other bolts are. It installed in the carrier with great difficulty, so I took it out and checked my other carriers. My old early 90's Colt with the cutaway bottom is the only one I tried that it would work in. It's nearly perfect fit in that. I took out the extractor and de-horned it and also swapped springs as the one it came with had no insert and it seemed weak. Also beveled the extractor to enhance feeding.

Back together I got it zeroed at 50 and went to 200. It's cold, windy and sprinkling so I'm shooting from the br window at my steel plate. After getting zeroed out there and adjusting the gas block I fired 3 rounds of my 55 gr load for the bhw 243 lbc. The splashes are touching. Two on top of each other and the third right there with them. Not bad in a wind. So I grabbed 3 of my 87 vmax load. Those three are on top of the 55's. Some time I will measure the impacts but I'm not walking down there in the weather. It looks like they will all be within 1.5" or so. Pretty good start I'd say!

I dug my 6mmARP out of the back of the safe with all this 6mmP talk and dusted it off. I only ever shot up to the 90gr ABs for hunting. Today I run some ladders with 8208, 95gr SMKs and Hornady 108gr ELD-M. The 95s were pretty accurate but the 108s were kicking ass, bug hole groups. 26.5grs 8208 run 2554fps in Lapua brass with Tula srm primers. I'm going to run a little higher on the charge and see what she looks like, but I like what I see now. Just want to see if I can get a little more speed for long range.

Just be careful. The throats are short so the long nosed bullets can get close to the lands. The shorter bullets will need to be seated to a shorter OAL.

A little range time with the ARP 6mm Predator and the Hornady 87 bthp #2442. The circles are trace lines from a dime and a quarter, for reference.

ARP 6mm Predator shooting Hornady 87 bthp over 28.8 grains of H4895 is a solid performer. It shoots sub moa consistently. I like it :)
