Bought a 20" brx arp barrel on the equipment exchange here. Fire formed the brass with cream of wheat. Finally got it sighted in today. The mirage was horrible. I was surprised to fire anything that even resembled a group. I definitely need a new scope. I used 95 gr smk over varget powder. I'm thinking I'm gonna like this rifle. Fired one group. Then used the rest of the pressure checking rounds to adjust the scope. Measures about 7/16"

Try 95 smks loaded to 2.298
33gr Varget
33.5gr Re15
35.3gr Re17

I have some data for the 105s too but not as much, after I found N550 I pretty much stopped shooting the rest.
Had to dig to find it, my record keeping is terrible.
105 Amax also 2.298
31.6 varget
34.8 N550
32.8 Re15

6 brx

In addition to what H. listed above, I have had great performance with this load:
-
95 SMK, 36.5gr VN550, CCI450, 2.300" OAL, brass sized with .264" bushing.
Fired over Oehler 35P. 3107fps average, 17es, 8sd.
3/8" @ 100yds.

Had the 270 ar at the range too. I've decided my brass prep must be different than everyone else's. No matter the powder I use I run into pressure with less powder. But I also match their velocities with less powder. With the 130 gr ballistic tip 34 gr 8208 at 2.300 is about as hot as I can go. 34.5 I see pressure signs. 35 is clearly too hot. That is with lapua 6.5x47 or winchester 308 cases. I was surprised to see the winchester 308 cases actually weighed slightly less than the lapua brass. I had worked up the load in 308 brass. I had hoped I could go warmer in the lapua brass. No dice.

Did the thread for the 270 get taken down, or was it moved somewhere my search fu hasn't found yet??
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

I've used 6.8 PRI mags since 2009 when I built the first 6BRX. 10 rounds work in a 15rnd PRI.

hands down the pri mags work best, i have been using g3 mags and the work with very little messing with -- normally i dont have to do anything sometimes a slight feed lip tweek.

i just picked up a couple gen 1 to try because that is what h recommends. i can only get 7 or so of my cats in the 15 round pri's i think if i shortened the spring a little i might get 9 or 10.

I have also been using 450 bm mags they only allow 2.29 oal but with slight squeeze of the feed lips the 5 round mags with the stop notches filed down can hold 7 rounds.

I've got both gen 1 and 3 and don't work. We discussed in the original 6brx thread. But I usually can get anything to work. I remember we clipped springs, changed followers, , changed feed lips, etc

Or maybe that was the 270AR lol, I haven't shot either in awhile.
