6.8 spc will be especially hurt by a AWB II

I would think, for this reason: the supply for normal capacity mags (i.e. 25rd) would be extremely limited. You would only have the supply that was already purchased.

Whereas, even after an AWB, there will be a lot of 30rd 5.56mm mags floating around out there.

You know, it's one thing to be hoarding $15 5.56mm mags right now, it's a bit different proposition to be hoarding mags that cost $30-50 each.

I would think that businesses investing in the 6.8spc platform would work hard, to the extent they can, to fight against a future AWB.

According to the NRA-ILA email newsletter, Pelosi and Reid shot down Obama's AWB trial balloon. That should end the worry about renewing the AWB for this session anyway. It seems even the Democrats are getting the message that the country is not going to put up with more gun control. Keep fighting it.
Well im sure the new shooting spree in Alabama will fire them up. Gotta love the US, the acts of one ruin things for many!

Have to wonder if they want to inject even more bullshit into bill first.

In my mind this is reason for more right to carry permits not less.

I wholeheartedly agree as well. Also why more Police and Deputies need to be armed with ARs and AKs as well. Remember, alot of departments still dont allow officers to carry more than a pistol and a shotgun. Our local PD doesnt even carry shotguns. Good thing the Chief of that department was wearing his vest, aparently it saved his life.
A bit off the original topic but:

Why is it that when the Democrats control the national government these things happen more frequently?

I know they happen while the Republicans are in office also but it seems that they occur more frequently when the Dems are in control.

I imagine that it is the American Gun Culture that caused the school shooting in Germany also.
Another big worry is whats going on in Mexico...the fact that some guns have shown up down there is drawing attention...could be used as a reason to screw law abiding gun owners in the US..

Everything I've heard on liberal/progressive talk radio from leading dems is that gun control legislation is a waste of time and off the table. More likely is the passing of a couple of NRA initiatives in the pipeline.

That's what I find interesting about these shootings, just one person who was prepared could have stopped this thing before it got that big.

That is funnny!!!

Unfortunately, we've never had a choice for an indoor range around here (my neighbors wouldn't use one anyway). And yes shooting can keep you up all night. I live in a no-shooting zone, high-density residential subdivision and until enough residents called the sherriff repeatedly, neighbors would hold shooting fests (2,000 shots/afternoon) with AW on their 0.3 ac lots. Sherrif/game warden response times are 2 hours to 2 days. I had to dispose of one dead deer in my backyard and watched a wounded one recover over 3 months (the poacher got 7 to sell however). One guy shot a deer that was feeding out of my wife's hand two minutes before, just across the street from my house, next to my neighbor's house; the deer left a big blood trail as it wandered thru the neighborhood; finally the guy shot it from the highway as it lay in a ditch just inside the National Park boundary. Just 1/2 mile away the no shooting restrictions stop (Methamphetamine Row) and the shooting can be constant throughout the day, including fully automatic weapons. Across the river are private timberlands and National Forest and it often sounds like fire-fights over there, especially just across the river from the National Park campground!

So what to do? My .338 Winchester magnum bolt action seems unwieldly, my 1911A compact 45 acp inadequate, so I've ordered a 6.8 rem spc (K1668). Not that it will affect any of my neighbors' behavior, but I'll be able to join in on the fun!

Thats the spirit! :D
During the last AWB, brownells was selling all of the components needed to build STI magazines. There was a disclaimer on the page that said tubes were available for repairs only and it was against Federal law to build a new magazine. I guess that did not work too well.
I know Hi Cap AR mags are probably going away, but don't forget the double stack pistols that most of us own. We are going to need mags for those also, before our new pedophile -in-chief makes those impossible to get. I'm stocked up on Glock, STI, and Para DS mags.
Holy 11 year old thread bat man.

how do people even find these threads let alone allowed to post and bring them back.
You gots me. I caint even find stuff when Ima lookin fer it.
Actually I like to see some of them appear . Think about it , a lot of the problems we faced and fears we had in the past have continually receded and reemerged . One way to look at it would be to quit believing the sky is falling and another is we need to stay vigalent because they never give up . Just because the last few scares didn't amount to much doesn't mean things will not get hairy this time .
