I would think, for this reason: the supply for normal capacity mags (i.e. 25rd) would be extremely limited. You would only have the supply that was already purchased.

Whereas, even after an AWB, there will be a lot of 30rd 5.56mm mags floating around out there.

You know, it's one thing to be hoarding $15 5.56mm mags right now, it's a bit different proposition to be hoarding mags that cost $30-50 each.

I would think that businesses investing in the 6.8spc platform would work hard, to the extent they can, to fight against a future AWB.

Couldn't you find the followers and just use the surplused 5.56 mags? The mags them selves would be banned but not the parts.

that's my point. If we are believers in 6.8, we need to fight against the ban. There are a million reasons to fight the ban, but one of them is the 6.8 will take a huge punch in the mouth.

I agree that an AWB would hurt the 6.8, but I'm not sure it'd be a death blow. I say this because I prefer the smaller (5-10 round) mags. I only buy 30 round 5.56 mags, but the 6.8 fills a different niche for me that doesn't require that capacity. The smaller mags are lighter, easier to use of the bench, and easier to carry slung over a shoulder.

With that said, let's not let a bill get far enough to matter.

Actually I think it may help. The new AWB they are proposing bans military specific calibers. If 6.8 is not classified as a military caliber it could see a boon. At least we could look at a possible bright side!

Well, I've lived in a Commy state for most of my life and I don't know what it is like to own a personal AR with all of the cool items. And although it does suck major balls, it isn't the end of the world. I've actually learned to live with it and figured out a couple of ways around it. And since I'm allowed to have 15 Round mags, the PRI 15 Rounders come in handy. If that is the best they can do, then fuck them.

Hey paulo tell us how you feel don't hold back.

Thats why you need to move from the commie state and come to Texas. We could use you down here and you would get to feel what it is like to own just about any gun you want

I'm sure we can find you a nice LE job in Texas. Texas Highway Patrol has all the cool gadgets, you could be a Texas Ranger after a few years!! Arlington's Police Department has a great budget due to all the revenue from tourism like Six Flags, The Ballpark in Arlington, lots of nice retail revenue, and let's not forget Jerry Jones' new Cowboy Stadium.

I will say this, if you are limited to a 10 round magazine capacity, would you rather have 10 rounds of .223 or 10 rounds of 6.8? But then again, I would rather have 10 rounds of 308 :D

Thats one way to look at it though
10 rounds of 458 SOCOM  Mark all your 30 round .223 mags 458 SOCOM. No mods needed.

Might as well add a 458 SOCOM upper too while you're at it.

Plus Texas, Nevada (my home) and New Hampshire are gun friendly and have NO income tax so there are some options. Paulo, you can move here, get out of the snow and just drive over to SSA and pick up all of the fresh 6.8 ammo you like. I love it!

I'm definitely considering moving out west when I retire.
