In my 4 or so years with the 6.8spc Ive really come to respect the cartridge for its flexibility and power, its performance in a "standard" sized package. The little 14.5" gun with the scout barrel is a hammer. It will shoot everything from 85gr to 130gr bullets quite well and loves 90gr and 110gr loads. I had it out today and sat there and rang the 8" plate at 300yds without even trying. Amazingly my 90gr GoldDot load and my 110gr hornady bthp load has the exact POI at that range. I can time my hits well enough to swing the plate, which hangs on a section of firehose about 24" long, horizontal.
I just really like the 6.8, even though we got off to a really rocky start. Im happy I stuck with it, and I did because of this forum, hearing the passion with which people here talk about it. I also really like the velocities I see with even the 14.5" barrel, just barely shy of 3000fps with a 90gr TNT or GD and 2600 with a 110gr, heck I can even get just about 2400 with a 130gr Fusion and to me thats plenty good enough for my AO, or at least where Id head to when/if the SHTF.
Also theres the point of being able to use a lighter/smaller gun. The capacity is right up there with the 5.56mm (which I also still love) and the ability to use the plethora of parts and accessories for it with the 6.8guns.
As has been said though, sadly, the 6.8spc is a handloaders cartridge so again as already been voiced the availability and price of good ammo for the 6.8spc is its main issue.
