Introduction:
Went to the range to day to test out the Velocity, Accuracy, and POI Difference between the CCI #41, the new Wolf 223, and the Wolf SRM. In the past I did some testing, but it was never on the same day, nor was it with the same ammo that I had loaded together. I wanted to take all of the variables out.

TAC Powder:
Weapon: Bison Armory 18" SPR.
Optic: SWFA 3-9-44 Super Sniper.
Brass: SSA.
Bullets: Sierra 115 GR SMK.
Powder: 30 GR of TAC.
Crimp: Lee FCD.
OAL: 2.245".
Temp: 92.

Wolf SRM: (10 rounds).
Hi: 2530 fps, Lo: 2460 fps, Avg: 2488 fps, ES: 70, SD: 23
Accuracy (2 5 round shot groups):
Average: 1.280" (1.280" & 1.280").

Wolf 223: (10 rounds).
Hi: 2515 fps, Lo: 2460 fps, Avg: 2481 fps, ES: 55, SD: 16
Accuracy (2 5 round shot groups):
Average: 1.567" (1.489" & 1.646").

CCI #41: (10 rounds).
Hi: 2578 fps, Lo: 2487 fps, Avg: 2542 fps, ES: 91, SD: 27
Accuracy (2 5 round shot groups):
Average: 3.096" (3.001" & 3.191").

POI Change:
There was no POI change. All three shot in the same exact spot.

TAC Conclusion:
With TAC, the CCI #41 primers had 52 FPS more over the Wolf SRM and Wolf 223 Primers. The accuracy opened up to 3" with the CCI, while it was around 1.5" both of the wolf primers. Definitely strange.

Benchmark Powder:
Weapon: Bison Armory 18" SPR.
Optic: SWFA 3-9-44 Super Sniper.
Brass: SSA.
Bullets: Sierra 115 GR SMK.
Powder: 28.5 GR of Benchmark.
Crimp: Lee FCD.
OAL: 2.245".
Temp: 92.

Wolf SRM: (10 rounds).
Hi: 2510 fps, Lo: 2428 fps, Avg: 2463 fps, ES: 82, SD: 22
Accuracy (2 5 round shot groups):
Average: .839" (.824" & .854").

Wolf 223: (10 rounds).
Hi: 2478 fps, Lo: 2455 fps, Avg: 2469 fps, ES: 23, SD: 9
Accuracy (2 5 round shot groups):
Average: 1.017" (.539" & 1.496").

CCI #41: (10 rounds).
Hi: 2515 fps, Lo: 2455 fps, Avg: 2478 fps, ES: 60, SD: 21
Accuracy (2 5 round shot groups):
Average: 1.398" (1.035" & 1.762").

POI Change:
There was no POI change. All three shot in the same exact spot.

Benchmark Conclusion:
With Benchmark, the CCI #41 primers had 10 FPS more over the Wolf SRM and Wolf 223 Primers. The accuracy was better with both Wolf Primers by approximately .5".

Conclusion:
I think it is safe to say that the Wolf SRM and the Wolf 223 are very similar to each other, other than the color, and are very accurate. The CCI #41 seemed to be better with the 5.56 that with the 6.8 SPC. For the SPC, I'll stick with the new Wolf 223 primers since they are more accurate and produce similar velocities with the Benchmark Powder.

Nice Paulo. Glad I got some wolf srm. Although I think they are the older ones. But I have shot them with good results. I will save the CCI#41 for the 5.56

Good post Paulo, I need to compare my Wolf 556 primers to the rem 7 1/2's I have on hand.

Tim says to get the 5.56 model of Wolf primer because of a harder cup. The "new" 223 primer, does that have the hard cup?
SMALL RIFLE PRIMER (part # QQQSR) - Used as a standard small rifle primer. Perfect for the 30 carbine and 223 standard loads. Many people use this primer in bench and other loads for the 223. This primer is a copper colored primer.

SMALL RIFLE MAGNUM PRIMER (part# QQQSRM) - This is the primer we had before for use in the 5.56 loads and hot 223 loads. A thick cup for the higher pressure. We sold a lot of these primers earlier this year. The new lot is brass colored instead of nickel.

SMALL RIFLE 223 (part # QQQSR223) NEW NEW This is the newest primer available in the Wolf line. It is ever so slightly hotter than the small rifle magnum primer and it comes with a brass colored thick cup. This primer can be used in place of the SRM primer or used when a different powder is used that is hardto ignite.

Wolf says the 223 primer is hotter but in your test with the ball powder the SRM primer proved to be the hotter primer, the 223 primer was faster with the extruded powders though.
I honesty didn't much of a difference between the Wolf SRM

Oh well, I dont have any Wolf primers anyway. I do have 7K CCI #41 & 5K Rem 7 1/2's to use up, I wounder if my 6.8 loads would do better with a 7 1/2 primer than the 41's I've been shooting, it shoots MOA now using the 41's so if I tried the 7 1/2's you think it might shoot better?

I know my gun shoots 55gr Hornady bullets much better using Varget and 7 1/2 primers than it did using H335 & #41 primers, so maybe the 41's are built for reialibility and not so much for accuracy.

I also have some CCI 400's I could try, they should be a decent primer in the 6.8 as well and I got 2K of those I use for plinking in my 5.56.
