Hey guys saw an upper from SW Mp line in this caliber. What can you tell me I think its a russian round is it smaller than the 5.56 or similar the guy had a good price on the upper says he cant sell it. Looks like there is plenty of ammo available for it on line. May try it out. Give me your 2Cents.

Right now the 5.45 ammo is stupid cheap compared with other calibers. If you buy a few cases of ammo and the upper plus some C-products magazines you can shoot for cheap. But if the ammo importation is stopped, you've got an upper with no cheap ammo supply. Decisions, Decisions. :D

I'd like to pick one up, and wish I had when they were more reasonably priced.

The obvious shortcoming is the C(rap)-products magazines, and since I hear that 5.56 springs don't work in the 5.45 magazines, there's really no ready fix.

the 5.45 works great in the AR. i dont have much time to reload with work and kids, so it was an easy fit. i wish i bought more bulgie when it was cheap. caveat: i havent pushed my upper all that hard.

there were some posts on it being over-gassed. i would agree, but not as bad as a noveske SPR i owned. i would love to buy a gas piston for it to try that out and make cleaning a little easier.

the c-products 5.45 mag is actually well made. i have had zero issues with all 10.

Do you have pics? What kind of mounts are you using now? What is the optic you are using?

I was asking you? If you e-mail them to me I can post pics for you. Or just describe what you have. Either way

i'm sorry i misunderstood you. i'm not using any sights now, but would like to use a cheap scope i have laying around and irons.
i just need to find some rings that are high enough to go over the front sight.

This is well off the topic of the 5.45, but you don't need to "get over" the FSB. With a magnified optic you'll see a ghosting at best, and with an RDS you'll see the base but not notice it because your focus will be on the target.

(there's a rear sight in there too, FWIW)
