I agree 40's are for lack of a better word snappy. I had a sig 229 and a kimber both went down the road. But I don't think a 45 has anything near the kick or recoil of a 40. I don't own a 45 at all, just thinking one might be kinda of nice.

I can imagine the .45 version will be brutal. If you have some local ranges with rentals, might want to see when they will have one to test out.

I've got a 40 Shield and it hits significantly harder than my XD40 full size. Something about that frame set I guess. I wouldn't want to go 45 unless it's in a 1911 or a full size.

I bet the shield is much better in 9mm. Not complaining though!

I have owned a couple of .45's.

Springfield 1911 GI and Springfield XD 45 service.

I have shot many other .45's in my life. Some of those were the small subcompact .45's .

I now own the S&W M&P 40 full size and the M&P Shield in 9mm.

Small guns are much better in 9mm as far as I am concerned. You can have issues with big 45 out of small frames, short recoil and short barrels.
