Info on the other project

I have been shooting a 6.8 on the same DSA lower receiver with a Wolf Reduce Power recoil spring with a standard, 3.0 oz. Decided to change to the original DSA recoil spring for a carbine set up. 38 coils.

The following info was found about the carbine I have been using. (Pictures will not up load)

16" ARP Barrel Gas port= .078"
CMMG Gas Block Port=.059"
CMMG Gas Regular cylinder port = .082"
This combination has worked with all ammo I have and with the Wolf Reduced Power spring for 3+/- years. But I had to.........

Using the "standard" 38 coil spring from DSA and another carbine spring.
Drilled the CMMG Gas Block Port of.059" to .067", 8/22/15. Still smaller than the 16" barrel port of .078"
All ammo works fine! 1" 12 shot group at 25yds, +/- Happy!!!
Federal 115 FMJ factory; 115 fmj 28.5 H322; 110 V Max 29.0 H322; 110VMax 30.0 H335, plus more.

I will be working on the Adams Arms & 14.5" ARP piston system. Barrel Gas Port is now .110" and working.

8/31/15 Range Time

No problems. Works all the time and holds back the bolt on the bolt face. Using a wolf reduce power spring and CMMG Mid length system. Very clean on the fore end.

Interesting that the CMMG gas block port is that small. Must be made for a carbine length 5.56. As long as it works right?

I was surprised too! Kinda like it. Can adjust it without adjusting the barrel to a point.

I like CMMG so far with the 16" barrel and would like a try one on a 14.5 barrel in a mid length system instead of a Adams Arms mid length system.
