LE discount
Anyone care to say what the LE discount is? Just wondering if it would be worth it to bother the brass for a letterhead. If someone doesn't wish to post it, I would be fine with a IM.
Thanks

I'd be curious too, though I can't use it for duty ammo yet.

Call them to get the current procedure, but it was painless to register as LE. IIRC, you just needed to fax a copy of your LE ID and get a code to use with a specific phrase at checkout.
They were pleasant to speak with and very helpful. It will be worth your while.

Is the discount only for ammo you would use for duty?
Or can it be any amount for any purpose?

I haven't ordered every type of ammunition SSA makes, but I've ordered several and they were all at their LE price.
Or are you asking about a tax deduction?
Either way, practice is a valid purpose. Maybe you choose to practice with premium ammunition? Also, hunting is good practice to sharpen marksmanship skills and to fire accurate shots through an adrenaline rush. Hunting also allows you to 'test' the terminal performance of a bullet (educational, i.e. this bullet would be a better duty round than that bullet).

I plan on getting the "ok" to use for patrol shortly. I reload so hunting ammo will be handloads. I was mainly looking for a discount on duty and practice ammo. I was told I can carry the rifle buy have to provide my own ammunition. No problem for me to spend money so i have the best equipment but if I can spend less (or buy more ammo with the same amount of money) that will work for me.

I have been looking at the SSA Ballistics data and I see some differences betwen the data on the specific ammo vs the data in their bullet drop chart. For example, on the Barnes 85 TSX page it lists 100, +1.1, 200, 0, 300, -8.2. On the drop chat it is 100, +2.4, 200, 0, 300, -7.7. Both indicate a 16 inch barrel. I will be sighting in at 100 and would like to be as close as possible, not that these differences are within my abilities

Just send Nancy a .jpg or whatever of your credentials, and explain that you would like to get the LE discount. She will e-mail you back and tell you that you can get the LE discount on ammo that isn't on sale. She told me to phone in my order. The LE discount is worth it.
You don't need the Dept letterhead to order for training ammo. Plus, you can write off any training ammo on taxes.

What FORCE says.
I recently ordered more ammo and learned that you MUST phone in your order to get the discount on NON-SALE items. Apparently someone, somehow was able to fraudulently obtain LE discount codes from their website and successfully place orders. SSA wants a copy of your LE ID with your customer # to file and reference when you phone in your orders.
HTH.
